Harmonic Dampers / Pendulum Weights

Ok, i know i'm new to these cars but i've just found those lumps of steel bolted to the rear of the frame...that is crazy! Could you imagine zee germans doing something like that (albeit the silly dampened flywheels the audi's use is nearly as bad)???

I've read up about them on various forums but can't see many that have removed them and reported on the effects....can anyone here comment?

I hate designs like that so want to yank them out but won't until i can work out if there are any noticeable effects (other than improved handling, braking, fuel economy, ease of jacking etc etc etc)

What do you're to achieve by taking them out?. Your right in saying they are harmonic dampers and are there for the comfort of the passengers to reduce vibration and droning transmitted from the road to the cab,,,,, or something similar. 2010 RRS, TDV8
bali Blue / colour coded
side steps / flappy paddles
black perforated leather
22" overfinch
heated everything, TV,fridge ...... now with gold calipers and mud flaps !( black mud flaps that is) !!
Many years ago,,,,, 1955 series 1 landie , sometimes wish I had kept it

Removing them will make 3/5ths of Censored all difference to the handling, braking, fuel economy, etc. They're a few kilos in a 2.5t vehicle.

And you'll have to lift the body to take them off. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed
