My 2015 RRSport has only done around 16000 miles since I bought it new. Car is immaculate & wants for nothing service wise. I won't ever be selling it. However at the last MOT they put in an advisory regarding perishing rubber & that was about 9 months ago. I have decided to put new tyres all round & it looks like the original Pirelli Scorpion Verde 275/45/R21 come in at around £900- £1000ish
What are your tyre thoughts, go for the same, different ones or cheaper ones bearing in mind its doing less than 2000 miles a year on main roads with the occasional off road onto a pavement. Range Rover Sport: Mercedes S63 AMG Coupe: 992 Porsche Carrera 4S

Pirelli scorpion zero

I recently had a rear tyre fail my MOT (cut in tread), so replaced both tyres. My preferred supplier only had Pirelli Scorpion Zeros available so went with this. My first thought is how quiet they are compared to the worn (35k miles) Verde. Always put scorpion zeros on. Agree with the above comments they are quieter than verde RRS 4.4 SDV8 AB 2018 – Best of all previous vehicles

Regarding noise, there's a stretch of the M5 southbound between J4 and 4A (only about a mile or so) where there are big variations in the road surface. I can go from almost total silence to a significant roar and back again in seconds.
Been like this with many different cars and tyres over the years. Cheapo Chinese or quality European, same effect.
I'm inclined to believe based on this experience that road surface is by far and away the biggest influence on noise RRS HSE Dynamic SDV6 2014

Scorpion zeros - best tyres Ive ever had, especially for a big low profile wheel.
Zero road noise also.

Pirelli Scorpion for me too, designed specifically for the Range Rover, and head and shoulders above everything else for mainly road use, although apparently it's not too bad off road either.

The newer zeros have noise reducing foam inside, whereas the older verdes don't, so obviously the premium charged has a benefit, and from the few posts above have said, it would appear to work.

You can have my old ones at £70 a tyre. Loads of tread, problem is the sidewalls are perishing but if your happy, give me a call. There is a reason ebay is selling two for £150 & its not a good one

Cheap tyres are a false economy unless one values a few quid over ones safety.

And, yes, premium tyres do perform better than cheap Chinese ditch-finders.

Having never lived in Australia, I don't have to worry about what tyres they have available. I can choose decent tyres and benefit from their better performance in critical situations.  2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed

Interesting review on tyres.
As I'm long past my 20's, the desire to push my car anywhere close to the limits of traction are long gone.
Also gone is the need to tailgate (especially in the wet) to the extent that a car length or so of braking distance matters. Have never had an accident where tyres were the factor, unless it was the third party who rear ended me (has happened twice).
One thing the review didn't include is the mileage you can get from the respective brands (for obvious reasons, but also an important buying factor).
In my personal experience, with both expensive (when I had a company car) and cheap tyres (I took the cash option from my employer), I never found much of a difference, except in my wallet. I regularly would get double the mileage on the cheap tyre that the tyre fitter would suggest, although to be fair 80 to 90% was motorway driving. Had one or two punctures (thankfully never a blowout).
I do believe in buy cheap, buy twice for most things, but for tyres, it was buy cheap, save money. Finally, if you need that last bit of extra grip that an expensive tyre will no doubt give you, to save yourself, I suggest altering your driving style is a safer option.
