Subframe bushings

Hi all.
Im from ireland and own a 2006 range rover sport se.
Im looking for some help and information on replacing subframe bushings as my mechanic told me its a huge job and wont do it.
Told me the whole body has to come off in order for them to be replaced.
So im trying to source someone else to take this on but i need knowledge before i approach anyone.
All information greatly appreciated.

I think you need to be a little more specific as to which bushes you mean, as never heard of body having to be removed to replace suspension bushes at least as the L320 is on a chassis not subframes.

Thank you for your reply. Thats the only specifics i have about it.
How do i find out more regarding bushings, and chassis and subframes? Would reading the manual help me at all??

New Zealand 2013 Range Rover Sport Supercharged Autobiography Santorini Black

If you do a search there are several links to the workshop manual on the site to download it. The most common bushes that need replacing would appear to be front lower suspension arms and anti-roll bar bushes, but there a quite a few bushes in total, a description of the symptoms the vehicle is displaying may help and how they decided it needed new "bushes" which is a rather broad diagnosis, bit like someone saying my car has a electrical problem what could be wrong.

Also, the car doesn't have subframes. It has a single chassis frame on to which the body is mounted. Those mounting points are not a typical area in need of replacement. The anti roll bar bushes can be more easily accessed if the body is lifted slightly from the chassis frame but it's not a full lift off of the body.

A bit more information is required, as Col says. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed

The symptoms are a clunking noise coming from the back end when you travel rough road surface, ive had other bushings done already. I was told that these "subframe bushings" will just stay noisy. But in my opinion if they are put in by the manufacturer surely they are there to do a job which they are obviously not doing now. Now on a different forum ive been told RRS have a lot of parts in them that are not needed,this is why im just trying to gather information as i dont want the wool pulled over my eyes about it. It would be a shame to get rid of it, ive had it 3 years, no problems, always gets what it needs so i just dont know, its also a little old to spend huge money on too.

The L320 does not have subframes, could be the rear roll bar bushes, I would suggest you take it to a indy who knows what they are doing.

As has been suggested, the usual suspects at the rear are the upper wishbone bushes and the anti-roll bar bushes (ARB's). If it is these, the body doesn't need lifting. If however, someone has had a go at the ARB bolts, and rounded them off they will need to be drilled out, and that apparently does require body removal to gain access. It may be that your garage has experience of this, and doesn't want the job.
I had my ARB's done a couple of years ago and apparently it was a close run thing, but fortunately a competent mechanic and induction heating did the job. .
