2013 Range Rover Sport 3.0 TDV6 HSE Rimini Red

Am I a right Dipstick ??

Hi all. This must be one of the most stupid questions asked on here:?
Just been checking over my 2014 RRS. And went to check the engine oil level. But I can't locate the dipstick. By the way, I took the plastic engine cover off.
Be gentle guys......

There is no dip stick

You use the dash menu to check it. (somehow) and that is if it's working

One of worst things manufactures have done is to do away with the dip stick. I hate relying on the electronic dash to tell me how much oil is in there.

Forced on them by emissions requirements, I think. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed

It's not unknown for the dipstick to not be seated correctly which allows crankcase fumes to escape. Sure, they're not measured in a test but they are a known emission.

I doubt it's cheaper to implement an electronic system than it is to have a tube with a metal stick shoved in it. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders

My oil sump sensor stopped working around 2 months after purchasing the car but was able to claim the repair under warranty, had to drop all the oil etc and put new oil in as its right on the sump, ridiculous to do away with a manual dipstick!

I never met anybody that preferred the electronic dipstick. Way too many components and very expensive to fix.

Many current HGV's are like that. Some still retain a dipstick but that's more for workshop use as you have to tilt the cab to get at it. 2006 RRS 2.7 HSE.
