Correct size questionable

Hello All,
I am currently running my winter set up and the size is the same as the
OEM set up being 275/40/20 on 9.5Jx20

I am looking to get a new set of 22" wheels,
as I made a mess of two of the ones I have,
but my question is this,
I have been running 285/35/22
but surely to keep the correct aspect ratio it should be 295/30/22

Is there a reason everyone runs 285/35/22?
and does that mean the speedo is always 4% out
30mph really being 28.8mpg

Can they be adjusted with the IID tool to correct the speedo??
if so I will possibly increase the side wall to 285/40/22 ===========================================

I think you may find 285/30 x 20" is actually the closest to the 275/40 x 20", and no it will not make a blind bit of difference to the speedo reading that you will notice by changing the tyre size in the ccf files, however the 285/35 would proably make the actual speedo reading more accurate than the orginal 275/40 as I'm sure by law a speedo has to read fast by a certain percentage, or at least that used to be the case. If you are talking about winter tyres I would have though smaller dia. rims with higher profile tyres would be the better option, as 22" rims were never a factory option on the L320 in either case.

Cheers
Col

When I had my L320 on 22’s I was running 285/35r22 & the actual Speed was slightly lower.

When I fitted my 22" wheels I had 285/35/22 and the speedo was under, I now have 285/40/22 and the ride is better by a long shot and the speedo is about perfect to my GPS.
