How to remove Drivers side air vent

Hi all,

Has anybody any idea how to remove the air vent at the side of the dash. My vanes are all detached (bar one) from the bar that keeps them uniform. I’d like to remove the unit to get to the back of the unit to reattach them and see if I can modify it to stop future separation. 2006 2.7 TDV6 HSE in Cairns Blue.

I’m going off of a foggy memory, but I think you open the door, remove the trim panel on the side of the dash. Remove some screws to be able to remove the piece of trim under the vent, then remove screws holding the vent and finally remove the vent. Again, foggy memory so take it at face value. 2011 RRS HSE Luxury 3.0 TDV6 Fuji White on Ebony/Ivory

I've found a video but it was for the passenger side. My concern was the rotary light switch. 2006 2.7 TDV6 HSE in Cairns Blue.

To remove light switch, you just grab the leather like surround and pull

It's not raining Thumbs Up , so I've had a go at this. It's a leap of faith but indeed pulling the panel off revealed the 2 torx screws and the vent just pops out. I found the link arm for rthe the vanes in the ducting. I took the silver trim off and removed both vertical and horizontal vanes to see what's what. The horizontal vane link where the vane click in were worn and the vanes could just fall out, the moulded ring mounts having no purchase whatsoever. So I cleaned up the plastic and put the vanes back into the link then superglued over then open links with 10thou plasticard strip. This has stopped the vanes popping out but still having full movement. I painted the strip black and reassembled the unit. It's all now good and working as it should.

Thanks for your help everyone. 2006 2.7 TDV6 HSE in Cairns Blue.
