Heater issue

Hi everyone

RR Sport 2010 HSE 3.0 V6 and owned motor an out 2 months now. So yeah earlier today was bitterly cold outside and so I out the heating on. The driver side is warm at best and the passenger side is cool. Thank good for the heated seats but I’m feeling disappointed.

The water in adequately filled with coolant and the climate control is on 28 for both sides

Any ideas ?

Very very common...the Land Rover book states that you have to remove the centre console and large parts of the dash (if not the whole thing!!) to remove the internal heat matrix.

However there are some alternatives you can try...

1. If you have the type of matrix that has metal clips that connect the pipes to the matrix you can cut out a small piece of plastic and then slide the matrix out to replace it or flush it out --- This is what I have done, there is a guide somewhere that shows you how to do this.

2. Flush the system, in my experience the standard connect hose pipe up or adding of flushing additives do not work. However I'm going to try using a central heating pump with descaling solution directly connected to the pipes as demonstrated in this video

I found the message that shows the short cut method to get the matrix out:

Update

Yeah so I think it’s deffo the matrix thing as the air is slightly warm at best and that’s only from the drivers side front and back, I’ve closed the vents off from passenger side as they are cold - Infact I’ve shut them all off and just rely on heated seats.

How much would it cost to get this fixed if it was the matrix ? Main dealer or specialist garage.

I’ve little to no experience self DIY. The engine temperature remains consistent at normal operating temp smack in middle of the temp gage on dashboard

If it helps, i just bought the part at that was £142 but i will attempt to fit it myself. I am a little gutted though as the pipes dont have the join in that i was expecting Sad I will have to cut and join with some heater hose i think

Our 05 L320 supercharged had no heating from the passenger side a while ago. Our local garage had it in to sort and they ordered a new matrix but the one that arrived had much longer connecting pies on it which would have meant most of the dash would have to be removed.
In the end they disconnected the heater pipes in the engine bay and back flushed it which solved the problem. I would imagine it's a similar story with your vehicle.

Diagnostic machine connected and I get this error code

B1081-00 (6Cool Left temperature damper motor

The RRS 2010 goes in Wednesday for a service and also they going to have a look at this issue. If it is the left temp damper motor is this a big job ?

Any thoughts ?
