Would really appreciate our members views on the choice of — HYBRID OR DIESEL for the new Range Rover Sport.
As a previous Diesel owner I am hesitant in pressing for Hybrid .
Would be very grateful for your views / advice and selection.

Hybrid for me
I do lots of short journeys so this will suit this engine type.

In a similar position myself

Running a 494 3 litre diesel currently and have been looking at the 461 P440e Autobiography over the diesel version, test drive of the p440e next week and I have to admit I do like the idea of this one with the 3 litre petrol to back up the batteries, problem is that I do love the diesel, had 4, 494 3.0 diesels in the family since 2014 and not had an issue with any of them.

Land Rover sales quoted me 18 plus months for delivery for the p440e Auto

so

Do I keep my current 3 litre diesel and wait or, do I swop it in for the current p400e and lose that one once the 461 p440e is available.

My concern is that the current one will loose loads in value due to the diesel prices and war against "dirty diesels" by the time the p440e is ready and not sure about the 2 litre petrol engine pulling that body around once the batteries are gone so would appreciate some advice on the current p400e and it's performance especially after the batteries are depleted and is running on that 2 litre petrol engine.

Journey mix is approx 80% short at around 15 miles and 20% longer at 50 to 100 miles and maybe twice a month around 300 miles.

What model is this as I haven’t seen any RRS P440e as demos yet .

We have a new 440e hybrid autobiography on order to replace our current 400 hybrid.

If you’ve tested the current 4 cylinder hybrid, then you’ll know that it is pretty smooth and refined. It doesn’t let the battery go to zero, so there is always some in reserve for pulling away etc. We’ve never found it to be lacking. We had diesels before and prefer the hybrid.

If you have lots of short journeys then the economy is super if you keep the battery charged.

That said, we are excited about the 6 cylinder petrol and longer range of the 440e!

I regularly drive to the mountains, which is 400km trip. Diesel is a no-brainer for me.

If I really wanted to push it, I could do the return trip on 1 tank. I am getting 7.4l/100km. I usually fill once to be on the safe side and have a short break. MY21.5 HSE 221KW D16

Haha...I suspect prices will increase significantly, but remember many of the largest oil consumers are making little moves to electric, so there will always be demand. But in reality, with a significant collection of petrol powered cars, i'll happily be buying petrol for my lifetime, even if we see £5 a litre!!  Now

With the price of electricity now, is there any financial benefit to running on electricity instead of diesel? At 50p plus per kWh it doesn't save anything over diesel. On the other hand it does seem to give flexibility and future proofing.

Hard to choose, I do like my 700NM torque SDV6 Discovery, and wonder how the new P440e RRS would feel in comparison.

Has anyone considered the weight difference between Hybrid and diesel?
In the spec the gap between the motorization is 345Kg (EU).
It means that every time you press on the gas a little harder, the combustion engine kicks in and consumption changes; therefore you must also consider the driving style that is adopted; if you drive mainly in queue there is no doubt.

Being a petrol head all my adult life Electric power is not for me , unless our Government stick relentlessly with this net zero which is now causing serious Energy problems here in the Uk. My view is buy what you most like.

That last line is exactly what is causing me serious sleep issues
The new Hybrid 400e makes complete sense for me as I do 90% short journeys throughout the week. Would save a fortune in petrol as my SVR is such a thirsty girl....
BUT I just know when the new SVR comes out I will be in complete turmoil if I don't get it!!
