Range Rover sport L320 trailer wiring

Hi all, I am new to the site & have a question, I have a 2013 L320 & want to fit electrics to go with a tow bar for the caravan I purchased which is an Inos made by the fifth wheel company in Wales, it has LED lights and I am struggling to get a wiring kit for my particular year of car, they do one up to 2011 that also fits the discovery 4 2009-17 but not after 2011 for mine as far as I can see. Some people say that their caravan lights work fine with a normal kit & some say not on other forums. I would be very greatfull for any input or advice on this. Many thanks & nice to be part of the community!!!! Very Happy

To get around the LED indicators the usual fix for these cars is to fit 2 relays and 2 load resistors to the caravan.
Not a very elegant solution, but is the proven method.

I would say its likely a D3 loom would fit, but can't be certain

The L/R part numbers for the towing harness on a MY13 L320 are 13 Pin VPLST0071 & 12 N/S VPLST0070. You should be able to cross reference these to a aftermarket part number.

There is a https://www.pfjones.co.uk/towbar-wiring-ki...-kits.html a supplier who has been recommended several times on the forum I believe.

I also have here a small interface unit which plugs in between the vehicle socket and trailer lead plug for use with a trailer fitted with LED's, sure similar thing should be available in the UK if you wanted something like that.

Also if you are told the L/R harness kit numbers are VPLST0015 or 0014 are for that year, they are not, they are for vehicles prior to the MY12 infotainment etc. interface change if I remember correctly.

Cheers
Col

I have a PF Jones kit on mine IIRC - it works just fine; no LEDs on my old trailer but I do notice they have an LED-trailer specific 7-pin kit for 2010 cars.. perhaps they could adapt that for a later loom? 2014 BMW 530d Touring, 2006 BMW 650i, 2018 Mini Cooper S

In case it helps, I fitted this PF Jones kit on my MY2012: 29190512PF

https://www.pfjones.co.uk/land-rover-range...512pf.html

LED trailer lights work fine (at least have for me in the past), but they just don’t trigger the trailer icon on the dash when you indicate (unlike normal bulb trailers).
