2005 Range Rover Sport TDV6 HSE Rimini Red

Top Tips

When offroading remember to lower the seat height in the RRS to its lowest position.

In the highest position ones head is a mere couple of inches from the roof (ok so I am a 6 footer but then again so are most people these days). A bit of speed accross a bump can cause head to contact roof with great ease resulting in compressed neck joints and seriously unhappy driver

In a D3 or Defender there is a lot more headroom to play with so the RRS can take you unawares.

Needless to say I write this with a rather crooked neck and a big glass of medicine (MacCallan 12) to dull the pain..... RRS TDv8 HSE Rimini

By this i take it you've owned or have good experience of driving a Defender. However, on a different forum, somebody of similar height complained about lack of head room in the Defender. I am over 6 ft and really admire the Defender but was put off by this comment. Just wandering then if that other person was just being fussy. I don't know.

Ronnie, yes I have a defender and use it in some pretty extreme offraod events. Never contacted head on roof (except for the time I pitch forked her end over and landed on the roof. Even then it was the roof that came down to hit my head, rather than my head going up onto roof - needless to say I now have a full roll cage fitted). The seats in the defender dont have any up / down adjustment (your lucky to get front to back and due to the bulk head, even thats a token gesture). There is ample headroom when in the driving seat. Any passengers on the rear benches have little headroom, but they can at least duck when hitting bumps at speed. Thats harder to do when you are driving .... RRS TDv8 HSE Rimini
