I’ve just taken delivery of my brand new p400e HSE Silver which comes with the Meridian Surround Sound system as standard. I’ve noticed what look to be two speaker grills in the roof headliner between the sun visor and the pano roof but initial impressions are they don’t work - I can’t hear any sound from them. I’ve not fiddled with all the sound settings yet but does anyone know if they’re “live” speakers or are they blank grills and just there for the next system up, the top-of-the-range Meridian Signature system.

My L494 fitted with the reference stereo had these speakers working above the visor, I haven't seen them on any other L494 with the 1000ww meridian set up that I have owned, therefore as you say they might be dummy grills fitted to these most recent cars or you might have got lucky and they fitted the reference stereo by mistake MY18 SCV8 Satin flux silver

If you go into sound settings is there an option for 3D Surround “on/off”?

Does it have the same little speaker grilles you mention also above the load area/boot in the rear?

If the answer to both of the above is yes then you have the Meridian Sig Ref system.

I have the system and the sound from the grilles you mention is certainly not very loud but you can hear it.
