Brakes seized on

Any tips on how to unfreeze brakes locked on ?
2015 l494 hybrid diesel with rear brake actuators, I’ve tried putting into service mode , motors whirr but doesn’t release.

Thanks for the info, yes it’s the parking brake.
Has anyone got any more detailed information on how to remove the epb actuators ?

Here’s a picture of my 6 year old rear brake calliper (yes it’s badly corroded) with the black plastic epb module removed next to it. It’s held on by two small torx bolds and should pull off the calliper, there is an “o” ring in the calliper to seal it from the environment which in my case had failed to do that due to the alloy corroding and expanding.
When you’ve got the epb off it’ll look like my photo and if you put a torx 45 bit into the hole0 in the centre of the calliper and turn it clockwise it’ll release the parking brake and allow the piston to be pushed back in. This is what the software should do, but I found yesterday that it didn’t fully release the piston on one side. Turning it until you can’t turn it anymore means you’ve fully retracted the epb system. Putting it back on is simple, and in my case the software work around to take the brake out of service mode worked OK. 2016 L494 HSE

Thanks that’s really helpful, do you know what to use on the bolts to remove as they seem pretty stiff and I don’t want to strip the thread.

I’d just take it carefully wind them back and forth, maybe use a little penetrating oil 2016 L494 HSE

I’d just take it carefully wind them back and forth, maybe use a little penetrating oil, can’t remember whether there was evidence on the threads of locking compound, anyhow, they shouldn’t strip the threads in the alloy if you take it steady 2016 L494 HSE

Anyone know where I can get brake callipers brembo 6pot fronts and trw rears refurbished mechanically, they are ok cosmetically?
Turns out my new to me 2015 RRS needs new discs pads actuators, lines and the callipers need a rebuild, not a great start but hopefully if I get this done it will last me while.

Surprised they need a re-build. My 6 pot front Brembos were in very good condition. The Trw rears, however, I’d like to refurbish/replace. As I mentioned the red paint is flaking off as corrosion of the alloy calliper is spreading, mechanically they’re ok, but the corrosion is causing a problem with the mounting of the epb.
So if you find a source for the try’s, please pass it on 2016 L494 HSE

Brembo fronts are actually ok so just the rears to send for refurb as seized which took out the motor as well £225 inc postage takes about a week to turn around. 2015 RRS DIESEL HYBRID
