my sport is going in for its 4th year service tomorrow, 35000 miles on the clock & i thought id give it a quick inspection.

noticed the side step panels are ridiculously corroded underneath, shocked at the state of them to be honest. metal is completely rusted, cracked and flaking away. not what you'd expect on something 4 years old. looks like it's 20!

has anyone had this issue before? will it be covered by the land rover 6 year corrosion guarantee ?

this was pre-wash so ignore the dirty paintwork

The dealer has offered £500 contribution towards new side steps which are priced at £1300.

Ive declined as I believe these parts have been manufactured to a very poor standard for what are regarded "superior genuine land rover parts"

been told to escalate it to land rover customer services who are "unfortunately closed due to unforeseen circumstances" !

Get him to give you the money and then buy some decent non LR ones.

I fitted a set of these today & can highly recommend them,,ive fitted loads in the past but none as good as these,no metal to corrode as they are rubber coated.

The ones I fitted took me 35 minutes.If they are just fitting steps onto original brackets,then five minute job. Andy.

I’ve fitted enough & know where all the bolt holes are,the ones I fitted last time were the easiest as their is no cutting of the undertrays.Plus ive got the proper lifts for getting them up in the air. Andy.

Also had the shocking corrosion on the side steps actually couldnt believe it either - they had completely dissapeared just rusty flakes left. The step basically just fell off when my friend stood on it.
I bought VTK500020 fro LR parts for my RRsport l320 2013 paid £150 July 2021. Re-used the existing chassis brackets.
