As the title says - car is giving off a deafening squeal when moving. Jumped in it this morning and as I set off massive squeal from the brakes / wheels, so I didn’t even get off the drive. The squeal is from movement not braking.

Car has been sat for 2 weeks so I’m wondering if it’s anything to do with the heat / damp.

Had new discs, pads and callipers fitted about 1k miles ago. Hand brake is engaging / disengaging and holding the car on a slope when in neutral.

Any home remedies I can try before calling out a mobile mechanic?

Could try giving the callipers a tap with a hammer. Richard

If its coming from the rear, I’ll bet my Sunday dinner on it being one of the handbrake shoes friction material breaking down. 2012 5.0 SC AB

B P may be on to something there, I had a bit of a rotational noise when setting off coming from the rear nearside wheel. On stripping it down I found that the pin holding the shoe to the backplate had rusted and failed causing the shoe to be pulled into contact with the drum. New shoes, pads and disks later all fine. I fitted a set of new slider pins as well for good measure, which were cheaper from LR than other places I tried.
