That answers my question. It's booked in for remapping and the asked if I would like the air filter upgraded to a free flowing performance filter.

It does flow a marginal amount of extra air, at the expense of bigger particles being allowed into the engine... |

It feels like you need to clean and then oil them more frequently than changing paper ones.

Interstingly Alive Tuning sell the ITG replacement filters and do seem to think they are beneficial. I'm not expert enough to comment, just putting it out there that there are other views.

For highly tuned vehicles, yes, they do need more air in to the engine For a mapped 2.7/3.0/3.6, then a good quality paper filter is more than sufficient |

I’ve seen the turbo compressor impact erosion, when the application has had a free flowing air filter. It’s great for the racing boys who’ve got big budgets to rebuild them. For us everyday joe the cost of a rebuild is normally an inconvenience.
