Removable Dog Guard?

Yes I know, a really exciting subject!

Sometimes I carry our mutt in the back of my L494 and I want to stop him clambering over onto the rear seats. I could fit the L-R metal dog guard or a similar product from an independent supplier but the trouble with those is that they're not really designed for regular removal and refitting and I need to be able to remove it regularly to fold down the rear seats and carry bulky stuff. These guards also impede rear mirror vision.

Ideally I would like to have one of those retractable loadspace covers which also has a retractable mesh guard which clips into a couple of fittings on the ceiling but those seem to have disappeared from new cars these days for reasons I dont understand

Anyone got any ideas? I'm getting fed up with the dirty paw marks on my rear seat Evil or Very Mad

Can you not use a foldable mesh dog crate that can be removed when not required, depends how big you dog is though.

If you don't want a proper dog guard, how about training the dog not to climb up on the seat back? Not being flippant, it's worth doing.

If you don't like guards, perhaps a rear seat cover to protect the seat from paw prints? Then a dog harnass to keep the dog in place on the back seat. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed

I bought one of these about 3 years ago when I had a 4x4 Skoda Octavia estate and was delighted when I found it fitted my RRS. It lifts in and out easily. I have a GSD and a Lab and they have ample room with the divider cage.

Thanks guys for all replies. The mutt is a bit big for a cage and the SWMBO would divorce me anyway if I bought one because she thinks more of the dog than she does of me. As for training, be my guest! The mutt has been to countless training sessions and it still does what it wants

Spleen - is that a JLR accessory specific for the RR Sport or 3rd party? - looks like it would be perfect for my new car and new dog!
