Home > General (L494) > Low Battery Warning MY2014 -dash cam issue? |

Had the above warning appear today and given the vehicle is only 3 1/2 years old was surprised. This has coincided with having a 2 channel dash cam fitted last week and which operates in parking mode so has a permanent live connection to fuse box but supposed to shut down dash cam if battery voltage drops to 12v. (Power Magic Pro control box on a BlackVue 750s system)

12V IS too low - that indicates a deeply discharged battery. MY2016 HSE D SDV6 - gone due to fuel dilution problems.

You can also get the “low battery” message when the battery for the Stop?Start system is low which could be a problem with the very low (for the UK) temperatures we have had recently so check that battery out too. 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

I used to get the message regular on my14 AB sdv6 when I had my camera hardwired,,like Tim says it’s probably the smaller stop/start battery that’s flagging the low battery message up.

I reduced the built in voltage checker on my Thinkware 770 to 11.9 volts recently and started to get low battery issues. I’ve now increased the min voltage to 12.2 and the low battery issue has gone away. After very cold nights recently, I’ve stll been able to use the remote FBH without problem, and whilst when I come to start it, it is slightly sluggish, never the less it has consistently started. And I’m using an 18 month old battery that I thought I’d recently following an alternate tor failure. So all in all good news. Robin

Eaters, if cold mornings make for sluggish starting try giving the car two cycles of glowplug warming before starting the car. When my Defender’s battery was getting too old (I stretched it’s life out to 20 years!) that worked a treat on very cold mornings and no FBH system to run. 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

Thanks all for the replies. I tend to agree that the cut off voltage at 12v is too low but the only other option on the Power Magic Pro is 12.5v. There does not appear to be any intermediate setting. At 12.5v it sounds as though the system will shut down the dash cam very early so will defeat the object of having a parking mode especially on extended parking times.

Can be left 7 days or more. Plan to try one of these AA solar panel trickle chargers that connect to OBD port if batteries check out okay. |
