07 TDV8 - Front ACE leak or something else?

Hi guys,

I first noticed an apparent leak on my front ACE bar on my '07 TDV8 around March this year. Since then, it seems to have got 'wetter' but it's not leaving a stain on my drive. Confusingly, the PAS fluid reservoir is full (or over-filled if anything) so it's clearly not losing fluid. Could this be a red herring and it not be the ACE bar, and instead be something else (e.g. engine oil) leaking onto the bar??

I'm concerned as my car has developed a significant clunking sound recently. It started as a single clunk when steering left, but now it clunks maybe 4 to 5 times on steering rotation! I'd say it sounds like a ball joint, but the garage can't see any problems, and are questioning whether it's the ACE bar.

Do ACE bars clunk when they've been leaking, even though fluid level is full??

Might be wrong here but surely the Fluid Level you need to check is the Dynamic Response Reservoir not the PAS, but happy to stand to be corrected.

Cheers

Thanks for your response, but i'm pretty certain they're the same reservoir. Would be delighted to be wrong though!

They are separate reservoirs. One by the FBH is the PAS, one by the air filter box is the DR. Both have yellow caps but with different logos on them. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed

Great, thanks guys. Embarassed

I'm hoping it's running low on fluid which is causing the knocking sound...
