Chrome trim removal

Hi all,

Just picked up another Range Rover sport, in Java Black, however the previous owner has stuck chrome effect trip pieces over various parts of the car (exterior handles, washer jets for headlights, fog lights)

My question is, does anyone know an effective way to remove these, they are not really to my taste.

Also there are some chrome Hawke side vents, how do I remove those also?

Thanks

previous owner of mine did a similar thing.

They grew on me.

The only easy thing to remove is the door handles. They should just be stuck on.

Everything else you will need to purchases replacements! So I suggest you try and live with some of them!

Hi Pal, I got similar chrome bits on mine they are only stuck on with 3m double sided tape and can be removed very easy by using an plastic trim tool and gently pulling them off, they often come off without leaving any sticky residue, should you get some sticky residue, it can be roved using sticky stuff remover spray from Tesco's or any major supermarket

Regards

Also you can gently warm the chrome with a hairdryer to ease removal Robin

The only thing that's more complicated is the air vent as this is a replacement part and they can break when removed. It may be that someone on the forum has some tucked away in their garage somewhere from when they changed theirs

I regret that I am one of those chrome add on freaks. Gradually blinging mine up😱 Robin

My fog light surrounds are replacements not stuck on.
Very quick to tell!

The normal ones are body coloured.

Maybe yours are different

Thanks for all the replies!

I have the heat and pry a go and managed to remove the fog light covers (mine were stick on) and the washer jet covers. The washer jets were black plastic rather than body colour so will need to paint them or finds body colour replacements.

I'll tackle the handles in the morning!

The bits I have came off without damage so are available if anyone wants them, will just need some double sided tape/foam to attach.

Yea I can see why some people would like it but I've never been a fan of chrome on a car.

On that note, does anyone on here have a black Range sport with black Range Rover lettering on the bonnet, also black 'sport HSE' lettering on the rear?

Thinking of gloss black lettering but can't decide if it will suit the front or not.

Thanks, will contact them as was considering buying some lettering from them. Thinking of doing all the badging in gloss black but undecided. Lettering is currently chrome and I'd orefer black or standard silver.

Is it really worth wasting money on black lettering for a black car? May as well de-badge it

Yes I have thought that, I tried to think back to when I changed the lettering on my last Sport and I didn't like it without so have gone for titanium lettering all round, ordered from powerfulUK along with black autobiography side vents.

Can't comment on all the lettering from powerfuluk, but I ordered a replacement 'Supercharged' badge from them as mine was worn.
It came as part of a kit with lettering to replace the 'SPORT' just above said badge. The 'Supercharged' badge was perfect, an exact OEM part, however the lettering while close isn't right, the backing tape is too thick, meaning the letters stand proud of the body work and the colour isn't quite the same as original, so I'll be ordering some replacements for those as I hadn't noticed the difference in colour etc. until it was too late Big Cry

I believe its 3m tape not the black rubberty sticker that LR use.

Also, i notced there seems to be two shades of silver.

Also, there are three variations of SC badge, one with and without the philips screw heads in the corners and the actual oem one thats a tiny bit bigger and more squarer. '06 RRS Supercharged Cairns Blue
