2011 RRS : rear seat headrests removal ?

Hi all - the rear seat side headrests are too thick & will not fit down into the top of my childseat.

(The isofix anchors the bottom of the child seat, and the headrest is supposed to be able to fit down into a space at the top of the child seat - and thereby anchor the top of the child seat).

However if I can swap the headrest from the middle seat with the headrest from the rear seat nearest the door - then it will fit into the top of my child seat.

Does anyone know how to remove & re-fit the rear seat headrests ?

My car is 2005 but it may be the same:-

Unlock the rear seat seatback and rotate it forward to about 45 degrees from vertical (so headrest will clear roof when removed)

Depress the two tabs on the round plastic fittings that the headrests fit into.

Pull headrest upwards till it comes out. Thumbs Up

thanks for the advice. I have tried that - but the headrest is actually locked into the seat even when the plastic tab is depressed (probably to prevent removal for safety reason).

I'm wondering if I need to prise out the 2 plastic guides ? Don't really want to have a "trial & error" approach with leather seats though.

I also found I could not remove the head restraint the last time I attempted (albeit half-heartedly) L405 P400e Autobiography (MY2020)... Silicon Silver / Espresso
RRS TDV6 HSE Lux (MY2011)... Nara Bronze / Arabica - now gone!

not one of the most crucial posts on this site - but yes - there is a way to remove the entire headrest Very Happy

By looking very closely at the 2 plastic guides through which the 2 metal legs of the headrest goes through into the seat - you will find a "hidden" button on the 2nd plastic guide. Just press that one in, as well as the other button - and the entire headrest slips out.

So now I can swap the outer headrest with the much thinner middle headrest - and that fits perfectly into the top of the child seat.

Thumbs Up

Sorry to bring up an older thread, but have similar questions about rear head rests. Just bought a 2012 RRS, and it didn't come with either outside rear head rests. There is different part #'s for either side, but are they interchangeable? Sounds like the center one is smaller, but would still work.

Hi Chockri, welcome to RRSport Forums.
Suggest that you note your VIN and send an email with it and your query to forum sponsor Dan@Duckworths who is a UK LR dealership. Dan is great and can sort out most spares / accessories problems. Dan has his own section of the forum but unfortunately until you have made more than 5 posts you will not be able to use the forum private messaging system (PM's) so you will need to email him with your details. I hope that he can help you - he does export orders too. 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it
2018 Melting Silver Mini Countryman PHEV - soon to be replaced
2015MY Corris Grey SDv6 HSE Dynamic, the best car I have ever owned, totally reliable only a cou0le of rattles in 3 years, now no longer in my care
