Fitting tow electrics My2012 AB - bumper removal?

Hi All,

On to my next mini project, fitting and programming the Tow electrics.

As mentioned before I have a late MY2012 AB, and I have purchased a wiring kit which seems to have two loom parts (see below). From reading stuff on the forum and Topix I think I only need the 13 trailer attachment end with its three plugs.

Having taken a look under the rear bumper I can just about feel the plug closest to the centre of the car and don't think I could get the job done without taking the bumper plastics off, dose anyone know where I could find out how to remove the necessary parts (the fitting instructions don't go into any detail), or is there a trick to getting to the plugs without removing he bumper parts?

Anyway once done I know I'll need the car programming, so anyone near Hinckley? (Please PM with how much it will cost)

As always, your advice and support is very much appreciated.
Cheers

Thanks 1JBS, I'm up for having a go at removing the bumper plastics, but am looking for some guidence on how to actually get it off Wink

Can I ask if it was just the single harness terminating in the trailer socket that had to be fitted?

Removing MY2012 AB bumper plastics, can anyone point me in the right direction please?

Cheers

On early models

Remove left rear light and disconnect bumper wiring connectors.
Remove any mud guards.
Remove screws in wheel arch securing bumper
Remove 4 screws at the rear bottom of the bumper.
Remove the insert on the top of the bumper marked range rover on late models
Remove clips exposed.

Pull plastic off by pulling the sides out by the wheels.

Just done exactly the job you mentioned on my 12MY RRS. Dealer quoted me £285 to fit it and said it would be less than an hour so I knew it wasn't difficult. Bumper came off easy, plug and play with the genuine loom, a quick clean behind the bumper and lights and refit it back together, just need to get it configured now Wink Do I go to the dealer? Take the plunge and buy an gap diagnostics IID tool, or ask someone on this forum? Whistle
