Judging from my recent experience I would say £19k. I was shocked how low I had to go to sell my 2011 with 38,000 miles, new tyres and just serviced and MOT. Current Merc GLE 3.5d 2016 model, 2011 RRS HSE standard
Previous 2012 FL2 liked but boot too small
Previous to LR's 3 x Merc E320 estates - fantastic load carriers and long distance cruisers, ultra reliable. Only changed as needed a 4x4 high tow vehicle. Did have a 1955 early LR drop down windscreen and fuel tank under the drivers seat; again very reliable and super rugged.

Yes have bought Merc GLE 3.5 d SUV. See my latest comments under my for sale ad. Traded my car in for £23k. LR offered me £22k against new RRS. WBAC offered me £22,600.Bought for £40k from dealer 29 months ago. Lovely drive though. Current Merc GLE 3.5d 2016 model, 2011 RRS HSE standard

Interesting 1x 2010 and 1 x 2011 RRS changed for BMW X5 and MERC GLE 3.5 plus Andys 2012 RRS to BMW and yet we all loved our RRS vehicles so why the change.

May I suggest.

1. Price to upgrade to new RRS too high
2. Cost of ownership.
3. Worry about reliability and Dealer/LR ways of dealing with issues.

Why else would one change? Current Merc GLE 3.5d 2016 model, 2011 RRS HSE standard

About right Nigel.
1. Having to pay over £100 per month for a LR warranty
2. The new Sport is so expensive compared to alternatives
3. I can get a new car for the price I was paying monthly for my 6 year old Sport

But as you say I do love it. But a new car is peace of mind. 3.0 HSE RRS Stornaway (current)

Crux of the matter is that JLR dealers are bunch of thieving so-and-so's with their pathetic px valuations. I've owned 2xJaguars and 3xLR variations and each time I've been offered less to px at JLR dealers than at Indy's or other manufacturer's dealers. But at the same time you pay a premium at JLR on an "approved used" so god knows what mark-up they put on them.

Perhaps JLR have got an issue here with JLR dealers and maybe they should look into it as it would be a shame if their product's reputation is sullied by these greedy xxxxxx's.

2010 Range Rover Sport 3.0 TDV6 HSE Bali Blue

I'm not entirely convinced the dealers are to blame here, many are part of big groups (Stratstones et al) so their operating policies and margins are likely to be led by them. I wonder is it because the manufacturer doesn't support the network as well as other manufacturers do and therefore the dealerships are unfairly penalising the customers?

I agree on the above 3 points though. New LR product seems to have taken a big step up in price so it doesn't surprise me to see RRS1 owners looking at other marques - its not to say they wouldn't have a new LR product though if the price/service was more competitive. I am surprised more RRS1 owners haven't looked at the new Volvo XC90 which at least is a bit different to the germans 2010 RRS 3.0 TDV6 - Bali Blue / Ivory Leather / Extended Leather / TV / Rear Entertainment / Privacy Glass / Timed Climate

I have had less than ideal dealer experiences too (and not just regarding quoted part-ex prices) but I feel it isn't right to generalise. I got excellent px for my last two RRS1s at a main dealer. Better than any private buyer would have paid, let alone a different marque dealership/independent trader/WBAC etc. The first was traded in Dec 2013 and the second in Sep 2015 so both after the new shape was already out and my cars were less desirable (but low mileage and in superb condition). I looked around and test drove other makes on each occasion. While the good trade-in price was not the most important reason, it certainly helped in staying with the brand. Current: Volvo XC90 T8 Inscription Pro PHEV with some optionals on top

You obviously have a good dealer who kept your business. Against a new RRS they offered me less than WBAC. I was honest with them and said I thought a new RRS2 was outside of budget and what about a 1-2yr one low mileage and you could see them give up on me. Current Merc GLE 3.5d 2016 model, 2011 RRS HSE standard

^ That does sound bad. Most of the time they make very good money on the used ones too so should have at least tried to offer you what you were after. Even with lower margins, they could have been professional.

Btw originally I also went in looking for a used one (to minimise future depreciation of course) but realised that price of a 1 year old RRS2 with 10k miles on the clock was almost the same as a new car at the time Rolling Eyes They very keenly showed me a few used cars but seeing the prices, my depreciation argument evaporated. Had they exhibited disinterest, I would not have bought a new car from them and it would have been their loss. Current: Volvo XC90 T8 Inscription Pro PHEV with some optionals on top
