Warranty direct

Warning about warranty direct
I bought a warranty from them, told it was all singing all dancing, it will cover everything they said, what a load of crap,
Have tryed to claim 2 times and they just say that it isn't covered, when the cover says it does.
They are just a rip off.
Say away from them, don't waste you money, save it for any repairs.

Hi
I had a rough running fault on cold start up, put it in to Pentland in Elgin, they came back and said it was an egr fault, the warranty refused it, then on further inspection Land Rover found that 3 glow plugs not working, put in a claim for that, they came back and said that they were not covered because there was some corrosion on them, and that isn't covered, I am just livid, I have started a official complaint with warranty direct, but not holding up any hope for that.
Ian

On both counts that's is ridiculous. I suppose you had to pay inspection charges too?

The glow plugs are very fragile anyway and I have heard horror stories of them snapping trying to remove them. Perhaps it was this reason they refused knowing if one or more snap it's a hefty bill! Any old excuse would be used to avoid this scenario.

Sorry, not sure of your model, but if you have a FBH on yours then you could always use that before starting the car. Not ideal obviously and not to take away from what a bad experience you have had with the warranty company.

A lot of folks on here rave about them, so it's a shame you are having this experience.

Btw. Used to live up that way. Was Pentland Frank Ogg? The one on the right kinda opposite HIS? 2015 RRS AB SDV6, Fuji White, Ivory

Ok. Yeah know Oggs
Hope you get it fixed up. Sure DM will sort you out for sure.
So have you cancelled your warranty? As you say, just save the money for repairs.
I would imagine they would just quote a corrosion clause to you and that will be the end of your complaint! Not sure about EGR and what they will say.

Mine is due to go in for the turbo drain pipe fix under warranty. I don't have cover from warranty direct but hope mine covers it. Vardy's in aberdeen say about £400 but DM said that's dear. Not a surprise I guess. Anyway if warranty covers it then I not care I guess.

Good luck

Could it be that WW are not turning their corporate nose up at the repair but the labour rates charged by a franchised dealer when they would prefer you to go to an Indy who will cost them about 60% less per hour? Did you ask them who their preferred repairer might be? 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

Must admit I've always had excellent service and response from Warranty Direct, and they have paid for everything claimed from MAF sensor to new Turbo and gearbox etc, not on my RRS, this was on my Rover 75 Tourer, but had the top package sold and it covered almost everything, but check your small print. I also opted for main dealer servicing, well worth the extra.

Sorry to hear of your problems, I was going to use them when my 2+ years left on LR warranty end.
Best of luck on your appeal but do check what's meant to be included "in print" often wording has exclusions for the different packages and age/mileage of vehicle John

England

The key with Warranty Direct it to really think about the policy and discuss everything before taking it out with them.

I too fell foul of their 'it's an all signing, all dancing policy' when I went to claim for a faulty surround camera.

I had a long discussion with them, and although their top cover will pay for a lot of things, predominantly engine orientated, you need to make sure you mention specific items, especially if they are electrical in nature, such as parking sensors, cameras seats etc.

It was annoying as I'd gone into detail with them about the suspension and a few other items when I took out the policy and had two successful claims for those (over £1,700), more than paying for the policy, but next time around I will make sure that I fully discuss everything with them.

Lesson leaned, and I'd still rather have a warranty in place with them Smile ON THE WAY: BMW F21 M140i

I didn't think they had 'preferred', they just either agree they will reimburse Indy rates (£60 p/h + vat from memory) or main dealer (£240 p/h + vat from memory) Question ON THE WAY: BMW F21 M140i
