A Bit of advice

Hi All,

bought a MY2010 Sport last year, from a franchised dealer. Have had ongoing suspension issues with the car.

The ride is very hard, and the car seems to wobble when driving. The steering also when going over any bumps on the road, tries to move to the side the bump is on.
The dealer have a few times checked all the suspension bits, and tried various fixes, but this has not cured the issue at all.

Now they are saying it is doing this because the previous owner has fitted polybushes to the car.

The dealer is saying the polybushes are working as they should and the dealer will not replace them for the LR ones. Unless I pay for it to be done.

Was wondering where i stand with this, as it has taken 9 visits to them, And only on the last visit they have told me this.

Thanks is advance.

I'd be very surprised if the poly bushes were causing this. it sounds like they are trying to get out of fixing it to me.

Sounds like you have tracking and bump steer problems. Bump steer is often caused by the suspension geometry not being set properly. If it's had the bushes replaced, it'll need a 4 wheel alignment, done.

None of this will help the hard ride, I'm not sure what could be causing that.

Hi,

they have done the alignment and tracking twice. They 1st thought the alloys were not straight so they changed those.

but this did not sort it.

Was also thinking they are trying to fob me off. So thinking if I should take to a local indi to get checked out.

The dealer said the polybushes are harder than normal, hence why the drive is hard and there is more feedback in the steering wheel. RRS MY2012 AutoBiography

Do you have the print out from the alignment check? No print out, no alignment check. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed

As you said, take it to your local indi and see if they can find the fault.
If they do get them to give you a report of the faults and then take it to the garage you get the car from. Lot of Landcruisers now sold
Audi TT 240 Sport now sold for.
RRS 2.7 HSE Now sold for.

Hi All,

quick update, so took it to a indy, They said only the front lower arms have poly bushes. They said these won't effect the handling. They said if all else has been checked then it could be the suspension dampers.

The supplying dealer has now turned round and said there is nothing wrong with the car, and that's how the car should drive, taken into account the age & mileage of the car.

This I don't accept, I asked them i wanted to decline the car, and they said yes that is fine, but they will only offer me a part exchange price on my car.

So now I am a bit stuck. RRS MY2012 AutoBiography

most main dealers are all scum bags, may I ask what franchise this is? I would advise going to LR directly and see what they can do.... currently having an issue with Shatstones and now the franchise director from LR has got involved as their service and attitude is embarrassing

I've got poly bushes in the front of mine and they do make the ride noticeably harder. It's not harsh, but certainly not as soft as with OEM.

I've only got hem fitted to the front lower arms.
