Flat battery and can't unlock with the key

All, newbie here. I've just returned from my Christmas holidays to find the car is dead.
I removed the cover on the left hand door handle and using the key have wiggled and turned, WD40'd, wiggled the key around, turned it anti-clockwise and clockwise.
It seems to turn inside but not by much and the door will not open Big Cry
How do I get into the Censored thing?

Any chance you have a tow-bar & electrics.

I wonder if you can supply 12v to the power feed just to give enough power to fire the central locking? There may be diodes fitted which could prevent it - not sure.

I've left it overnight with a good dousing of WD40. Fingers crossed

Half can of WD40 into the key tumbler, no luck.
The other half in between the door handle and the lock sprayed onto the lock surround.
No luck.
Had a coffee and a cigarette. Called around some mates for advice all I got was laughter!
Went to have another go, wiggle wiggle and pop, door opened.
Thank Censored for that Thumbs Up
Everything has reset, clock, radio, trip etc.
Anything I need to be aware of or will it all reset itself now?
I've checked that everything is working as it should and all good.

On the mercedes forums they suggest plus gas which is supposed to work miracles better than anything you can think of... never used it but always been meaning to get a can to keep handy.

Also suggested to tap the blade key whilst inserted to shock the tumbler... Heat eg hair dryer too ... All tips from mercedes owners when boot locks get stuck !

Plus gas,,,, it's a long time since I've heard of that, is it still made??, I remember using it when working on my dad's cars years ago. I thought wd40 had superceded it. 2010 RRS, TDV8

Still for sale at euro car parts and other places they say it's a superior penetrating spray and nothing can compare... big claims but tried and tested with results where wd40 has failed. I really need to get me a can
