I've recently taken delivery of a new 2016MY RRS (previously owned 2011MY)
One of the options was Automatic High Beam Assist...which didn't work!!!
After several calls to the dealer, they told me that some vehicles needed a SW update for this to work, so i had to take back to the dealer to have this done.
Before i did, i noticed that the height level of the head lights (not full beam) seems very high, and i'm constantly being flashed by other motorists to "dip".
After the SW update, the AHBA now works, but they are still set "quite high"
I asked the dealer how i can adjust the level, and was told that it is not possible???
My question is, is this correct???
On previous cars i've owned, you could adjust this in case you had a heavy load in the boot etc.

i have a MY15 and no AHBA, and get flashed by other drivers. My dealer said they couldn`t do anything about it.

However it does seem to be people in low down cars that flash me

The level on my SVR appears to be much better than it was on my old 'Sports - no one has yet flashed me in the SVR where it was a pretty common occurrence in the my L320 cars. 

Thanks for the link above. Took 30 seconds max to adjust to right level after two years of being flashed by the poor sods in other cars coming the other way. Dealer that serviced my car last year said they couldn't be adjusted....

Just out of interest, how do you determine whether the level is right? Is it trial and error or is there an easy way to do it once and be sure? I mean without any specialist equipment obviously. I would like to confirm mine has been corrected by the dealer and I am not just imagining that people have stopped flashing. Current: Volvo XC90 T8 Inscription Pro PHEV with some optionals on top

Mine were adjusted far too high on delivery and I have progressively adjusted them downwards a bit at a time until, on a dark road, the beams give a good long dip but the light is sharply masked from oncoming drivers. So, the answer is trial and error.

One of the big problems with headlamp adjustment is the self-levelling lamps and the self-levelling suspension. You can never be sure when they are in a neutral position. The only way is to adjust, drive round a bit and see what you think. Regards

Trial and error for me although worked first time. I did one full turn on each screw and luckily got it just right

I adjusted mine yesterday. I guess I won't know if it was by enough for a while.

Bit of an old post, but very helpful.
Living in Jersey i don't get much night driving (long distance) but recently was in the UK and as others have said, i had almost every on coming car flashing at me.
Anyhow, 60 seconds with a 6mm allen key (long shaft) and wound them down 4 full turns, judging it against my garage wall. And now a lot better. Will keep the allen key in the car in case i have over done it!
Sometimes the interweb is very useful!!

Scary how some dealers believe they cant be adjusted...basic stuff. MY 14.5 SE SDV6 Loire Blue. Silver roof. 22's.
