Bonnet switch replacement or bypass.

Hey guys.
This Bonnet Open message and car alarm of mine is driving me mad.
Has anyone bypassed or replaced this bonnet switch that they can help me with?

I replaced mine last weekend following a few alarm activations and a spurious "bonnet open" message. £25 for the whole latch/switch from LR dealership. Quick and easy to do. You need a T30 torx bit and a small flat bladed screwdriver. I took off the grille and driver's side headlight to give me room but you could probably do it without doing that. Two torx bolts to undo and used the screwdriver to ease the release cable off the latch. Undo the electrical connector and that's it. Replacement is just as easy and the bolts are 10Nm / 7lbft although I don't have a small torque wrench so just nipped them up. I spent a few moments checking that it locks and releases cleanly.

The old latch is stamped FoMoCo, the new one isn't. The new switch is different which is presumably why you can no longer just buy the switch separately.

Along with the boot switch, this must be one of the easiest fixes on a Sport! Thumbs Up 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders

I found the electrical connector quite difficult to remove until I released the whole catch from the slam panel. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders

Pic here for you (courtesy of Robbie). Would have explained a little further last night, but was rushing off. Thumbs Up

Basically, the circuit is closed when the bonnet's shut, so the paperclip completes it - useful for drain testing. Wink

Interesting. Had no trouble on the D3. From memory, I wouldn't have thought access would be any more difficult on the RRS. Ah...was it the ACE reservoir in the way? Visiting from DISCO3.CO.UK

The ACE reservoir is in the way a bit but I just found the connector was very stiff to move. Once I'd got a couple of mm of it out it popped out easily enough. Just found that I had to press the release catch bit and use a blade to lever it open slightly. Some connectors seem to be that way - the one for the heated rear screen was an absolute Censored to open, for example. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders

Lads.....you've been so helpful...thanks.
Deffo going to sort it this weekend.
Yes, the ACE bottle is tight up to the catch but I'm sure I can do it.
I have fingers like sausages though!!

Sorted it today!....thanks guys!
It was actually quite easy. It's just the connector is a little awkward to access.
