England 2006 Range Rover Sport TDV6 HSE Tonga Green
hunter wheel alignment

Went to get the hunter wheel alignment done today. Kwik Fit have the service and I have one down the road and went in.

10 minutes later the guy came in and said he couldn't make any adjustments because he couldn't connect via the OBD port and told me that I needed to go to a dealership? Anyone heard of this or was the guy a chump?

Advice appreciated! 2006 HSE for Sale - £7,499 (Manchester)

Not necessarily. RRS suspension should be put in tight tolerance mode before alignment which is done by connecting a suitable diagnostic tool via the OBD port. May be they didn't have the right tool but knew it was required. The local Hunter place I take mine to (not Kwik Fit) connects a computer via OBD port (don't know for what) after I have put the car in TTM using my IIDTool and removed it. Current: Volvo XC90 T8 Inscription Pro PHEV with some optionals on top

My tyre place doesn't have a way to put the RRS into TTM but they're open about it and know that it should be done. I just use my IID to do it. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed

Quite a few have had it done without though without issues. It'd be an interesting one to see some really detailed comparisons of, but very difficult to measure, of course. Visiting from DISCO3.CO.UK

Alignment can be done without putting into TTM.

Have had a few alignments done, some I have put into TTM myself, and some without, and never had an issue with tyre wear etc Thumbs Up

Yeah Kwik fit. The lad who did it was brilliant and talked me through everything. The lad from the other day (and other branch) looked like a numpty so it's probably best that he told me he couldn't do it! 2006 HSE for Sale - £7,499 (Manchester)

Hi Guys,
On my visit to Quick Fit, the book-in supervisor told me, Quote, " We do not touch alloys over 18", as they may be get damaged". Result went to a competitor in town and had excellent service. I will not cross QF's door ever again! Happiness is driving a RRS
