Bit of advice RRS HSE TDV6'2007

Hi guys,

Hopefully going to pick up a used RRS HSE on Saturday - I've had a good read of the forums and have a good idea what to look for as a buyers guide but have what may seem to be a silly question as although we have one already it was brand new so didn't have these issues to consider as such.

It's got 93k odd on the clock but had a brand new jag long block about 4000 miles ago.

What is the best method to check for air suspension issues?

I know of the fairy liquid/ water spray trick - where exactly do in spray them?
If I don't have access to a spray bottle is there any other methods?
Obviously I'll look out for knocks etc

But is there an obvious way or alarm bells I should look out for?

In terms of the transmission any tips to look out for?

Any other advice you guys can offer would be greatly appreciated Thumbs Up

Forgot to add compressor has been replaced already...

if there are any problems with suspension it will show on dash, mine did as soon as compressor started getting worn out ,as for gearbox driving it should be smooth gear changes and no shunting feeling when your stopping at lights etc ,also would be a good idea to have transmission flushed if it hasn't already been done Thumbs Up silverRRS 2.7 TDV6 22"WHEELS FULL COLOUR CODE,STEPS,REMAP..gone

Thanks mate, the transmission flush is the first thing I'll be doing (perhaps Geoff can help) and a remap probably through Pete at Bell

I just wondered if there was anything that may not trigger the dash in relation to the suspension that may give a hint.

I suppose bushes will be more of a concern at that mileage too,

when ever i have had suspension problems the dash told me more or less instantly,i suppose you could park it on level ground and make sure its not leaning on any corner ,also the obvious thing to do would raise and lower it to access height etc and make sure it goes up and down pretty sharpish, also i think i heard somewhere that the compressors get noisy but yours has had a new one hopefully with receipt and guarantee, good luck with it silverRRS 2.7 TDV6 22"WHEELS FULL COLOUR CODE,STEPS,REMAP..gone

it was done when i bought the silver one but to be honest it was a massive difference,i have had a few of them with a few major nightmares, including engine rebuild ,suspension problems ball joints brake pipes etc etc etc swore i would never buy another one but tbh i proberly will...i have never spent as much money on a car in my life as a rrs but as we all know when they are running right they really are very nice silverRRS 2.7 TDV6 22"WHEELS FULL COLOUR CODE,STEPS,REMAP..gone

Will prob go with BAS then.

Well I've got a nice 309 mile drive back so looking forward to it - always the best sort after getting a new toy!

The guy selling it offered to bring it to London for free - I politely declined Razz

Well just an update.

Sadly after a six hour journey I was met with a dishonest seller!

The csre been involved in an accident with both N/S doors badly repaired and aligned, the front bumper badly glued on, the N/S headlamp cluster is broken so almost falling out and has scrapes visible from impact, the grill has broken clips so lose and falling off, the side steps had the plastic trips falling off and the side door trip on the damage repair side also falling off and appears to be glued on out of alignment and sticking out The car had damage all around the body work (zsl me extremely minor) but nonetheless not disclosed despite questioning before going to see it.

It's also had a long block replacement to a later euro 5 spec engine from Jag which I confirmed with Dragons prior to going to see it but does not have a warranty as initially claimed.

The boot was also damp and the air suspension seemed knackered. Hasn't had a gesrbox flush/ change ever in it's life, and bushes hadn't been replaced. The sests also worn and the driver bolster so lose that when I went to get on it simply slid off.

The car also had evidence of mould near the 12v point and in various nooks.

Despite having agreed to £12500 before going to see it and knowing this was a bargain if as described I walked away from it.

Any seller who could lie about the evident causes me concern about what else he had tyres to hide or lie about that isn't visible.

All in all a twleve hour round trip and a disappointing day Sad

I also see the sellers relisted it failing to declare any of the stuff I pointed out to him (despite him probably already being aware of it) Censored

Have been left with about £300 odd in expenses and a £50 refundable despisit he has failed to return so will pursue that with him or court if necessary. Censored

As a warning the link is {link_removed}

Avoid at all costs! It's HPI clear too so another reason I suspect he is aware of the damage and the low price.

I didn't suspect it at first due to his feedback but it seems this is predominantly from his buys rather than selling feedback.

Don't regret it at all mate. I like honest cars Smile

Hopefully someone won't get conned into it.

The hunt is still on, in a positive way I might have funds to get that 3l instead!
