I replaced the battery in my spare fob, hardest bit was spliting the key open... Battery is a rechargeable cell thats soldered onto the pcb, and wasnt too hard to change.. If you have a soldering iron and a desolder toolcgive it a go ! 5 quid for the battery and some superglue to put it back together Why?.. Because i can....

What doesn't work? Willmitnstart the car, if so you need to leave it in the ignition for around 7mns for it to re sync with the car, will take a while to charge I would have thought. If you took some fog and put it in a jar, would it be missed. |

My key will start the car. I have been using it to try and get it to charge but no joy. I may have a go at replacing the battery to try and avoid having to buy a new key! |

Followed the battery replacement thread on D3 site and saved $900 on two new keys.

Changing the rechargeable battery usually fixes a non working key fob, just done the one on the wife's freelander2 which is very similar, so the method is the same, see my video of doing it in the link below, or if that doesn't work try searching on Google or youtube for "comeinhandynow"
