Help needed: ridiculous rear rattle&squeak

Hi everyone,

I have a '08 RR Sport TDV6 that a while back developed an extremely loud and thus severely annoying rattle and squeak in the rear of the car. It is a noise that is coming from the rear right of the passenger compartment for sure but unfortunately I have no clue as to its precise location. I have applyed the tailgate rattle solution just in case but as I expected it wasn't related to my problem. The rattle appears when the back end goes over high bumps, has an extremely high pitch and as far as I can tell isn't caused by the rear seats or pillars since I had a friend on mine drive around with me in the trunk pushing on every little part in hope of finding the source. It appears even when the car is completely empty-no baggage,no tools and even no roller loadspace cover. The only thing that I could find on the web that is similar is in the following video only mine is quite louder:

If you have any ideas regarding the source or possible solutions I would be deeply grateful Bow down

Could the spare wheel be loose ? or maybe the weights that hang under the back moving around ?

Get the mrs to drive it while your in the back. 👍my guess is a tired ball joint if it mimics road surface changes. 2x TDV6. SE and HSE. Both returned to sender with issues👀
TDV8 Sport HSE...... Gone. Loved it but it didn't love me!!
Now rolling in MY10 Fullfat TDV8 Vogue. Slammed it to go round corners🙈
Cruising daily #56 mph in a Volvo V8. 😱
Lots of other toys in the cupboard...😜

I will definitely check the spare tire because the squeak sounds like something made out of rubber that moving around, I haven't thought of that and is actually a great idea. I will also check the surrounding area and see what I can find. As soon as the weather clears I will take another ride in the trunk that's for sure. Hopefully I will have some luck this time around Wink

You could drop the spare wheel out Yanislaw and take a short trip without it hanging below the car to see if this stops it. I agree, sounds like a good thing to check.

If you drop the spare wheel and then drive without the spare in place, take care with the cable. It needs a load on it when it's wound back in or it can cause issues (there was a thread on here a while back about it). Perhaps just carefully coil it up and tie wrap it out of the way rather than winding it in. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed

Guys, I think I found the source !!!

In the trunk on the right side there is a small removable "door" which gives access to the locking mechanisam of the gas cap and a bunch of other wires and what not. In that area there is also a metal bracket that holds a plastic box with cables going in and out. That metal bracket is loose and as it rubs against adjacent objects it gives out that horrific noise. The solution- 2 zip ties that hold it firmly in place so it doesn't shake on bumpy roads Thumbs Up
