What is this?

Hi all,
Found this when I looked inside a hatch in the boot.
It was just dangling there.

Does anyone know what it is please? It looks like it should attach to something but I really don't know what.

Is it from my rear offside door because that is playing up and not locking/unlocking?

Not tried that but thinking about it now, if it's for the door then it wouldn't be in the rear wing as nothing moves on the wing.

The things that move are in the door.

Confused.

The lock mechanism could be where the rear door closes against the quarter panel and not actually in the door itself! I'm only guessing here as I've only had a sport a few months myself, and it's a wee bit late here or I'd go out and have a look myself. 2007 RRS 2.7 HSE - Java Black

Looks like the cable to lock the fuel flap Thumbs Up

Not uncommon for the actuator to play up, and not unlock the flap

It IS for the fuel cap/flap

I locked the car and the flap still opens.
That's a pain!

Thanks guys. Just have to work out how to fix it now.

Probably needs a new actuator, if the cable end is OK

Strange. I put it in the hole for the fuel cap and it works fine.

It looks like it had been taken out for some reason. But I don't know why as it works ok.

Thanks guys.
