Bigger Battery replaced (see pics)

Hi All

Needed a new battery so after searching on the forums had some good reviews on the Bosch S5 Batteries.

So managed to pick one up from Eurocarparts cost me £133 was £160.80 but you get a Online discount if ordered Online.

The size was Huge 393mm in length compared to the old one which was only 353mm

There was No way it was going in, was just to long. In the end had to remove the plastic surrounding, Place 2 x 2x4 wood pieces to lift it as would not sit flush.

Placed the battery on top of the wood pieces, Connected it all up. Runs sweet now, Plenty of power to fire it up Thumbs Up

I'm struggling to see why you didn't just fit the correct size battery in the first place... 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed

Was struggling to find a battery the same size with a higher ah, I did a search on the forum and came up as recommended battery for the diesel 950cca

This one is bigger in size but a 920cca. was recommended one from eurocarparts when they put the registration in, the smaller one in size was a 850cca . I seen another member do the same.

I can't see it doing any damage to the alternator.

What size amp batteries are you guys running?

Mine has an LR battery in it.

You need 90Ah / 825A CCA so the original one was "big" enough for the job.

If the battery needed changing then it might be worth getting the alternator checked out (if you haven't already done so). They are a known weak issue and short journeys in the colder months might stress a weak alternator in to failing. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders

Yes Landrover use Varta Batteries,90ah I had a problem with my battery,as i have more electric bits and peices ie.TV 6 DVD Player and all the usual battery draining stuff. So i upgraded to a Varta H3 Silver 100ah 830 CCA with a 5 year warranty.same size as origonal. and only £82.44 free next day delivery. Varta batteries start at standard Black, which is fitted in landrover, then Blue range then Top of range Silver. I cant see any sense in altering the battery carrier to accomadate a larger battery itisme
