The aesthetics of older wheels on a newer car

I bought my 11 reg, RRS off my sister and the wheels are totally kerbed and scuffed! Moisture has got underneath the lacquer and all four wheels now look really bad! I was thinking about getting them refurbished but a colleague is selling a set of older Stormers in excellent condition !

Should I get mine refurbished or go for the older rims? Any thoughts?

Very Happy I suppose its down to individual taste Very Happy Could you not try the stormers before you purchased them ? I personally like the design but would be reluctant to place them on a newer looking Sport ( my opinion only ) are they 20's or 22's this may make a difference - 22's would be replicas Rolling Eyes do you have any pics of the RRS with its current alloys ?

Good luck with your choice Thumbs Up 16MY Estoril Blue SVR.............

Bit of a no-no for me, I prefer to see alloys on the same sort of generation motor that they are known for; I thought about buying one of the newer Overfinch wheel designs for my '08 HST but it just didn't look right to me.

If you like the look of the "older" wheel on your vehicle then go for it. It's a personal thing and your money so do what suits your taste not other the tastes of other people. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed

Me, I'd check they are original stormers and not copies and if they are correctly weight rated, lots of copies out there not up to the spec required

Then decide if you prefer the refurb or stormer look

Only you can decide and it's hard for others too, especially when we don't know the other options style

I'd go with the wheel you like no matter the year of the sport.

Mine has the more common way though, newer wheels on older sport.

It's only the sport geeks that would know they are for the wrong year the rest of the 99% of people won't know the difference.

I think it looks just great in your picture Salisbury, leave well alone, it's a fine looking car just the way it is. You don't need Stormers on your car. Save your money or treat yourself to something else.
