Warranty direct

As the hardly-worth-the-paper-it's-written- warranty is about to come to an end, I've just had a chat with warranty direct- having previously had a quote of £685 from them. Long and short, they've upgraded the cover to prestige and performance which covers all the suspension parts, turbo, no labour cap so I can take it to a main dealer, extra month, air con, ecu, for £650 for 13 months. I'm think that's good?!

I am about to sign up with an LR Dealer for 12 months warranty at £745 for my '57 TDV8. Does anyone have an opinion if I am better with LR main dealer or Warranty Direct or maybe one of the others such as Click 4 Warranty?. I have always thought that a main dealer would provide a better level of cover but maybe I'm wrong. I do need to also pay LR £180 for an inspection before they will cover the car but I am using this to tell me if I should buy this car or not and I think the seller will make good anything that comes out of the inspection - or I probably won't buy it and will start looking all over again.

Confused

^^^ This topic has been discussed in great detail and there are probably as many opinions as there are warranty companies. Please use the search facility. My personal view is that LR extended warranty is good for cars upto 5 years old/75,000 miles but the level of cover for cars 5-10 years old/100,000 miles isn't worth it and one should go for Warranty Direct/Warranty Wise.

Many thanks fkarim, I will do that before I make my decision. I will probably still go for the LR pre-warranty inspection to learn more about the car but keep an open might who to take the warranty with.

Hi, I previously went with Warranty Direct and I have to it was a total waste of money. I had an engine issue and they wangled out of paying as they claim it was a 'were and tear issue', although Land Rover Taggerts Glasgow disputed what Warranty Direct were claiming.
Sorry total con men. 2017 Range Rover Sport HSE

I took out a WD Extracare policy on my previous RRS a few months ago andwas still running till I traded it in.

In the first two months ago they paid out for front ARB bushes and front passenger door lock, which pretty much covered most of the warranty cost. Although I did have wear and tear cover included from day as I previously had the lr select policy. 2014 L405 SDV8 RR Autobiography Cool

I was quoted just over £800 from WD. Got a good conversation going with guy on phone at WD and he asked me if i had the means to get car to a garage should anything go wrong. I explained i have breakdown cover which will take the car anywhere i want it to go, plus i also have my own 7.5T recovery truck(for transporting my real offroader to events).

Price of my warranty cover then dropped to £230, yes thats correct....£230. Exact same cover just without them having to pick the car up. He explained its not something they openly advertise, for obvious reasons. 2007 TDV6 HSE

I got it emailed through even before i accepted it Wink

All in B&W now too.

When you think about it, it makes sense for them. Most of the time a car gets taken to the garage, only for them to squirm their way out of paying for the fault and you get left putting your own hand in your pocket. They still have to recover the recovery costs though. We all know warranties are like Russian roulette when it comes to claims. Laughing 2007 TDV6 HSE

For £230, I would be tempted to have it on my own car Laughing

If that's the case the way to go would be AA or RAC breakdown and recovery with a separate policy from Warranty Direct. Best of both worlds for half price. Seems like a no brainer if you need cover then Thumbs Up MY16 AUTOBIOGRAPHY Indus silver with some toys

I have been with WD for 2 years now and they have paid out every time including bushes, arms, park brake, steering rack... I pay £625 p.a. but after reading the £230 quote above <gulp>

The £230 policy will be their lite policy which is a lower level of cover which covers quite a fair bit less. 2014 L405 SDV8 RR Autobiography Cool

Warranty Direct ?

I am currently assessing my options for a warranty.

My TDV8 is coming to 6 years old and I think my choice boils down to the LR Select Warranty or Warranty Direct.

WD online are quoting £867 for Extra Care.

A few questions:
- Extra Care is the only warranty option they are showing - is this the top cover that they have ?
- There are no optional extras to add, other than Franchised Dealer prices. Is this correct ?
- Price seems high - any way to bring this down ? What should I be looking to pay ? Proud owner of a 2008 TDV8 HSE.....and an Audi A3 2.0T DSG Cab and a Porsche 911 Turbo (Mercedes W208 320 CLK and Mercedes W124 E220 Estate now gone)
