2005 RRS losing power

My 2005 TDV6 is losing power when its cold, unfortuantly I am working overseas so my partnner is dealinmg wuth it! I had thought it was somthing simple like fuel filters. However the garage told her that 2 valves need replacing at a cost of £600 + labour!

Is this a common problem with RRS of that age? It has 60k on the clock!

Cheers,
tony.

Very common failure. However, as yours is an 05 model, they can be blanked, with a pair of £10 plates from Ebay Thumbs Up

£600 plus labour!!!!??? Wow! Rolling Eyes

I had the same problem with my old 55 plate RRS, as above, the EGR blanking plates can be bought for very little cost!

Think I paid £150 all in! anyone charging more than £100 labour is having your pants down in my opinion! ( but i may be corrected!)

Is he talking about the EGR valves or the valves in the head? I would think replacing inlet or exhaust valves would be an expensive game.

EGRs aren't expensive items and blanking would be preferable anyway - and costs peanuts as you say. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed

I would assume EGR valves, as they are very common.

Inlet/Exhaust valves would require the heads to be removed, and would be much less than £600 in parts, and is unheard of

£600 for a pair of EGR valves is a joke though. They are around £150-£160 each Thumbs Up
