Pulling away, delayed acceleration?

Well having had the Sport for a month or so now and I am loving it, however, one thing that I am finding quite annoying is this delayed pulling away. It seems much worse if you slow down as you approach a junction and then go to pull off without completely stopping, however even when I pull out of work sometimes you need to get a shuffle on when a gap appears and there is this 1 second delay before the car moves???

What makes this worse is that you instinctively put your foot down a bit more to encourage the thing to move and BANG warp factor 9 and all passengers suffering whip lash Big Cry

Think I have maybe read a thing or two about this, but the problems seem to relate to older cars mine is a September 2012 car, any thoughts?

It defaults to 2nd gear for pulling away. You need to tell it you want 1st gear by manually selecting it. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed

Andy, check with you dealer when it goes in for its 1st service (or before). Thumbs Up
I had a similar trait, which was cured when they applied software updates. Smile
Apparently there were 3 relating to the gear box, so obviously something they were refining for the 8 speed box Rolling Eyes ON THE WAY: BMW F21 M140i

gearbox software update sounds more like it, I don't think its anything to do with pulling away in second, as there is nothing there at all for the second.

Cheers, I'll give the dealer a buzz and see what they say.

Regards,
Andy

Andy, please let us know how you get on with the dealer.

We picked up a new HSE Black edition 2 weeks ago and noticed the same thing. Had to come back out to the Middle East for a short spell but will be picking this up with our dealer on our return

Seems odd that recent MY13.5's are exhibiting the same thing, but got to be worth checking.
Information was given to me by Lookers (Chelmsford) back in November, but sounds like the gearboxes are not running the latest version, which is a little porr if that turns out to be the case. Confused ON THE WAY: BMW F21 M140i

I have this problem on my 2006 S/C... i'll get it in for a check shortly. Anyone know what the software update should cost? I may have to have it done on a trial an error basis as I have no fault codes. I think Bodsy does software updates, might give him a shout too as i need some other software updates for phone, indicators etc.

England 2012 Range Rover Sport 3.0 TDV6 HSE Alaska White

This is something that keeps coming up, I've posted on this on another thread a year back when I nearly crashed after the car just wouldn't pull out of a road after a small gap appeared, I'm 14 months into my MY12 White RRS with AB kit, I love the car but for this issue, pulling out is almost dangerous, approaching a round about slowing and the car never has a gear ready as you start the accelerate round the roundabout no matter what speed you enter it, I always flick to Sport mode when I approach a junction now, what ticks my off is my wifes Evoque launches off the line as soon as you touch the throttle, also just test drove the all new FFRR 3L and that was much improved. Before you say it's an update ask your dealer, I did that and it went in and it's still the same!
The RRS feels very laboured in general and its echoed when you used the touch screen, every press and you wait 1 or 2 seconds, it's so slow a barely use satnav/tv/cameras etc I use my iPhone for nav!!! again not like that on the Evoque touch screen all looks the same except it's much quicker, the new FFRR was all new touch screen so can't really compare.
Rant over!!

Haven't been following this but sounds like this is the same issue - and possibly a solution coming out from LR?
