United Kingdom 2010 Range Rover Sport TDV8 HSE Santorini Black
Car won't move!

Just returned to our car after leaving it for a few mins and its unlocked as normal but won't start.
It appears to be locked up. Brake pedal is rock hard, can't move it out of park and there is no response from the start button.

Help!

Think this happened to me. Car would not start as brake pedal could not be pushed. When i did force the brake pedal the car started and the pedal went back to normal, been ok ever since. SVR 2018 in Santorini Black.

All appears well again. This is the first 'problem' that we have had in nearly 2 years of ownership.
Car is 3 years old in July and I for one will be extending the warranty as we are totally happy with it and see no reason to change.........at least for another year.

If its an early car, ore 2007 roughly, may be worth checking that it has had the vacuum recall done on it. The servo was loosing pressure which made the pedal go hard with engine off. My 2005 V6 did it on a regular basis and required all my 15 stone to press it far enough to start the car.
You can test this by starting car then turn it off. You should be able to apply foot brake 12 times before it goes hard. Any less and you have a vacuum leak. 2x TDV6. SE and HSE. Both returned to sender with issues👀
TDV8 Sport HSE...... Gone. Loved it but it didn't love me!!
Now rolling in MY10 Fullfat TDV8 Vogue. Slammed it to go round corners🙈

Hiya, it's a July 2010 model but I will check it anyway, thanks for the suggestion.

My 2010 TDV8 did it after a few days of ownership, I did the embarrassing thing of get LR assist out to look at it and he checked battery etc. then asked me what I was doing to start it so I showed him and he said press the brake pedal a bit harder and "whoomph" it started. I think I have a habit of putting my foot on the brake when switching the car off like the starting procedure and this uses the vacuum from the servo so it's rock hard the next time you come to start it which means the pedal doesn't go down far enough with a light press like normal to actuate the switch to say your foot is on the brake. No big deal and now when it happens I just push brake harder.

Cheers Nick,
I may well have had my foot on the brake as I switched off. Will keep an eye on it in future.
