Buying back stolen recovered vehicle from insurance company

Anyone ever done this or have any knowledge on the issue?

Insurance has paid out and now vehicle has been found. How do they calculate the price for you to buy it back?

Previously i've found its 10% of the payout cost, but they are not always at liberty to sell it back.

But ive only ever dealt with 4-5k cars with damage, you may find they'll send it to auction... I looked at a couple of stolen recovered RRS's in the auctions and the prices of them were the same as trade in value, with keys.. and minor scuffs... Why?.. Because i can....

Sorry guys yes the RRS. Things have been so hectic that I haven't been on here for a while. This happened at the beginning of December. Used it on the Friday and parked up down the road as I have an old disco that I'm doing welding on for off roading so no space on the drive. Didn't use it Saturday. Sunday went out in work van. Went work early Monday morning and upon my return at around 7-7:30pm I noticed it wasn't were I had left it. Last definate time I know it was there was the Friday.
First thing I did was check the house. No break in. Then checked for both keys and both there.
Anyway went through the procedures of police etc. got asked to walk up and down the road in case I had left it somewhere that I had forgotten.
Heard no more from police and just assumed it was probably not in the country anymore. Insurance paid out in just under 3 weeks so can only assume they must have thought the same.
Then the beginning of this month I had a phone call from police saying it had been recovered undamaged and locked and secure Question
Insurance have said the will contact about buying it back once it's been inspected at salvage yard.

I know that newer cars can for example the bmw if they have keyless entry & start. The only thing I could think was that it was lifted. It hadn't been to a garage as my mate serviced it so no possibility of key copy.

The way I see it is if they want it they will have it. Only thing I wonder is what it was used for?

Laughing half the pubs here mate have shut and what's left either don't have car parks or if they do it wouldn't have sat for nearly 2 months. You park for 2 mins here and you clamped or towed.

A friends disco was stolen, moved about 2 miles away and left - according to the police, its common for them to leave it for a few days and should it not get any closer attention they move it on.

Unfortunately for them, my friend drove passed and just clocked it and got it back!

Security wise, the later systems are more secure than the earlier ones - but ultimately anything can be stolen if they really want it Mike

It was probably lifted. Someone one here had a similar case where the scums lifted the car from the drive way next to the house. Funnily (or not) the neighbours saw it happening at 2 am and did not find it suspicious... Vadim A.
