HDC fault at startup

Get an error saying "HDC fault system not available" when I start my range rover.

Never seems to cause anything else or any problems starting ,just this message.

Any idea what it is?

Cheers

Quite a strange one, car's used regularly and never had an issue starting!

I might try sticking some juice into it, otherwise might be new battery time!

Cheers guys.

Possibly but my friend had the same issue last week Had it checked they said the alternator ( he had the alternator replaced with a recon one 15 months ago by the same company the warrenty was of course out ) so he paid the £220 bill for another alternator guess what still got the hdc so he needs a battery now if he wants to get rid of this message. As everyone knows once started and run you wont get it again untill the car has stood (usually overnight ) it happens on first crank in the morning but yes woth checking the alternator

Hi All

Just for similar info to this thread - I have had the HDC fault on my 2006 HSE for a while and then the very morning I wanted to hook up to caravan to go away before Christmas, battery dead! Never done that before. Green Flag out within half and hour, jump started car. Was found to be charging by alternator at 14 amps (he said) so it was a battery problem, not the Alternator (he said).

Did not turn engine off until covered 90 miles, restarted no problem and completed 120 mile journey, battery well charged. Never failed since, but I expect the colder spell ahead will be the test.

Still getting HDC fault message so hope it disappears when battery replaced. New battery will be fitted shortly, hope keeps going meanwhile.

If the alternator is charging correctly the new battery will cure it

Thanks Madmackie!

In fairness I must assume it is the original battery as it only had 34k on two years ago when I bought it so no complaints now at 55k!

As I've said earlier my car is a 55 plate so it's just 7 yrs old I had the problem new battery sorted what I will say is get the right battery don't be fobbed off if its a diesel it need to be at least 90 amp with a cca of 900( cold crank ampage) if it doesn't have this don't fit it as next year when it's cold you will have the same issue.i got mine off eurocarparts delivered with 3 yr warranty it was 100amp with a cca off 950 for £89 using promo code battery 15. If you need the link let me lnow
