That's illegal, why would you recomend someone do something that is against the law Question

I have all my cars tinted, fronts as well. It is only illegal if you use a limo tint. Only my opinion don't want to offend. I just think all cars look horrible with factory back windows. Thumbs Up

It's illegal full stop to have your front windows tinted, REGARDLESS of darkness if tint. Front ones have to be as they left the factory. Some people are very lucky not have been caught or the Police that have stopped them haven't been bothered! Current transport : Audi S4 V8 Cabriolet, Suzuki GSXR600 K1

Just googled about tinted windows and found the answer below.

GOV.UK
Quick answer
Tinted vehicle windows - the rules

If you’ve got tinted vehicle windows, the front windscreen must let at least 75% of light through and the front side windows 70%.
There are no rules for tinting the rear windscreen or rear passenger windows.

It is also illegal to sell a vehicle with heavily tinted windscreen and front windows.

Penalties for having wrongly tinted windows

The police or VOSA vehicle examiners use light measuring equipment to measure window tint.

If your windscreen or front side windows are tinted too much you could get:

a ‘prohibition notice’ stopping you using your vehicle on the road until you have the extra tint removed
a penalty notice or court summons
Further information It is what it is and I am what I am....

Nice colour, nice car and looks great just the way LR intended.

Any red is no good here though, all red cars fade horribly after a few years of the sun.

I would like it if I lived in the UK but that won't happen if I can help it!

I had tints on my 5 series front windows and picked up 3 points and a £60 fine

The legal amount you can tint the fronts is so little it's not worth doing

Agree with you though, looks sooo much better with front tints, but I'm on 9 points now so no tints for me Crying or Very sad MY07 TDV6 HSE Stornaway & Ivory

I have factory rear tints...why anyone would want front tints (or stronger rear tints) amazes me.

Its frankly dangerous - the point of the glass is to let you see out and let light in so you can see...this means you can drive - to block out the light means you cant see and not only makes you a fool, but a danger to everyone around you, not to mention yourself.

To compare window tints to speeding is stupid as well, yes both are illegal, but the simple fact is that speed has a number of determining factors and just as slow speed can be dangerous, so can fast speeds and vice versa - linking to weather conditions, vehicle conditions, road conditions and design, driver ability etc....tinting your front windows means you need to drive at 10mph everywhere because you just cant see properly Mike
