EASControl update? There were no updates for the EASControl...
For the IIDTool there were - and if you had an early unit it was w/o a USB jack. Please send your info to GAPTeam@ ourwebsite.com and we'll check on what you have. If it is an early IIDTool we will still honor the update offer, of course. Thumbs Up
If you have an EASControl we can upgrade you to the IIDTool for the cost difference and postage.

How did the car perform on such trips.
Would you say the Supercharged be more reliable than the TDV8? 91 BMW 850CSI

G4's arent Supercharged just the standard 4.4 petrol Mike

Excuse my city slicker ignorance, but with roof tents, do you climb up and sleep in it on the roof or take it off and put it on the ground?

If the former, I presume you have to fit a ladder as well?

Both actually - although ive never seen anyone take it off (its a right ar Censored e to do)

You stash in your ali ladder clips on the side and your done...some use the later to support it on the larger fold out ones Mike

As requested, here's a few pics of the car and rooftent on our Morocco trip:

The car performed superbly; it's a standard 4.4 V8, even in 47'C heat doing 10mph all day (the suspension on a Disco II we were travelling with collapsed) it didn't overheat or make so much as a complaint all day - a bloody brilliant car.

As you can see from the pics, ours is a Maggiolina clamshell roof tent, stays on the vehicle and winds up with a handle, the a simple step ladder (originally kept in the car but scratched my window tint so was then kept in the rooftent!) is then propped up against it, hooking over the edge of the tent. Was absolutely brilliant, will probably keep the tent forever as it is a brilliant investment.

I considered this, but given you can pick up a pair of genuine LR bars for well under £100, why bother? I choose to fit the bars and rooftent when required, and put the G4 (Expedition) rack back on for general use. Cutting it down to fit the tent will ruin the rack and also, with a clamshell rooftent at least, means it hangs too far out the back so you cannot open the boot either. The roofbars allow a lot more flexibility and were plenty strong enough. - Range Rover Sport 4.4 V8 HSE G4 Challenge vehicle (FOR SALE)

Nice pics, Mike! Looks like a great trip. Too bad about the EAS on the D2 - did he get it fixed? EAS is great, but it is a maintenance item. And it needs to be checked before embarking on a long journey.

Wrong car for the forum but the same probs (and roof tents Razz ).

I used 6 feet from 2 sets of sport bars for the P38 (as there are 6 possible attachment points) and welded a rack. Note that the middle crossbar sits higher than the front or rear crossbar due to the curvature of the roof (as I mentioned in my post a page back).

We still use the P38 for camping - tho we will probably be moving to the L322 sometime soon. A sport would simply be too small for us. This was on the beach in southern France.

The chap replaced the air bags on the D2 with coil springs at a local Moroccan garage in Zagora and we were soon back on the road.

I am selling the G4 currently as a job change now means I live 80 miles away from work, but when I do I am tempted to get a P38 DSE (or possibly a V8 on LPG, but concerned about reliability in remote locations) and build a 'Trek' replica:

Why sell the G4 if you have long distances to drive? Sounds perfect for the job! Laughing

For a vehicle that you are taking to Africa, for instance, I would go with a DSE over a LPG V8. And with an auto trans - and remapped. W/o a remap a DSE is not much fun to drive. And the P38 is a beast of a different caliber when it comes to the electrics/electronics. Before you venture anywhere further than within a few miles from a LR dealer, make sure you have the immobilizer disabled and have familiarized yourself with basic electronic functions. I do love my P38, but I'd prob recommend a L322 for someone without a keen affinity to electrics/electronics - especially if you are planning on going somewhere where you have to be self-sufficient.

My P38 is relatively stock. I have a mild suspension lift (longer air bags, longer dampers, recalibration) and I run slightly larger tires (265/70 16).

Fuel prices!! At £1.40+/litre it is too expensive to run over the distances I now cover on a regular basis.

If I don't get the price I want for it then I will likely keep it and run a second cheap car (diesel Focus or similar) for the trip up and down the country, but it would mean the G4 would not get much use, which I think is a shame! - Range Rover Sport 4.4 V8 HSE G4 Challenge vehicle (FOR SALE)

No problem, but please block out the numberplate.

These were taken on my iPhone - if you are wanting to put these in print then I can get some high-res photo's in a couple of weeks time but I am not with that camera currently as it (and memory cards) are on their way to Valencia for the MotoGP! - Range Rover Sport 4.4 V8 HSE G4 Challenge vehicle (FOR SALE)

Don't worry...we're all in Dubai but I'll block it out anyway. It's for a feature on mounting different types of tents to Land Rovers.
