Decisions Decisions

Hey guys, I've been off this site for a bit because basically I decided against a RRS, not a decision of my own accord, but my lovely wife got wind of the reliability concerns from some friends and after that and some web searches she then saw an RRS broken down and being pushed through a set of lights near our house and she was like "Nup" I dont want that happenign to me with a 15mnth old and new born. Who can blame her hey....lol....but I must admit its the first one I'ev ever seen broken down.

So the RRS was off the list. Bummer.
Next on the list Q7. Too big and just outside price range so dont even go there.
Next X5. She dosent like the look of it in or out. I dont particularly either. I could put up with an M series however
Next LR Disco 4. Too boxey for her. but nice inside and good sapce.
Next VW Touareg. She likes the latest gen shape. So ok lets test drive it....

MY11 150 TDI is the only "new" Touareg in our price range.
I drove it. Not bad. 8 speed was good and not much searching. It pulled up really well and not much body roll on cornering. Not majorly fast off the line though. The turbo lag was horrible and it felt like under those leather seats it was really a cloth bench seat. didnt like the trim at all.
Wifes comments where. "feels cheap and not like a $70k 4x4" and "I want something with more power and gets going quicker". I think she was right. So I've crossed "the peoples" car off the list.

So back to the drawing board and I've convinced her to drive everything now just to be sure. Q7, RRS, X5, Disco 4.

Personally I've always had the RRS in mind as I think it covers most of the bases we want expect I cant help thinking my wide will get stranded lol.

I know the RRS isnt a "cheap" car. None of the above list is. Bigger service cost. More technology blah blah. expensive parts.
But I am finding it hard to pin down just what running costs per year I really would be looking at for the RRS.

I have a good local independant a couple of streets away from me who I had a chat with and he just said "well they arent cheap to run" and "it all really depends". Yeah? so depends on what????? lol.

www.rangerover.net says here http://www.rangerovers.net/warranties.html that yearly repair cost exluding general servicing can be upward of $2500 US per year.
can anyone confirm this is close to accurate?

Also if anyone in the Sydney area is willing to jump on the phone and have a chat with me that would help immensly.

Ultimately looking at 08 RRS TSV6's and looking to keep for 3 years only then onto something new.

Lol nup she ain't driven it yet but I think I convinced her originally the RRS the way to go and she almost got run over on the crossing art our local village and she thought "yeah I really like them". Plus she's about to give birth to my son so better to get the car done and dusted so we can put the others on the market. see what tomorrow brings.

2008 Range Rover Sport TDV8 HSE Santorini Black

Great call - I bought my RRS because we had a new baby! Really happy, great riding and safe position. Great looks and comfort, great driving ability in terms of power and comfort and lower than expected servicing costs at £400/year.

Only downside os fuel cost.
