I changed my front and rear pads last year, no special tool required. Just attach a pipe to the bleed nipple and undo the screw to release the pressure while you compress the piston. Don't forget to check the brake fluid level when you have finished the job! I guess you will need to change the sensor if it has activated the warning light.
