I'd say things are definitely moving away from 'cash' here in the UK.
Used to be that cash was the best way to secure sizable discount, but from my own experience that doesn't seem to be the case nowadawys. ON THE WAY: BMW F21 M140i

I managed a 7.5% discount, but it was a case of been in the right place at the right time, many dealers couldn't get close including LPR Something to do with james & steves high salaries

I must admit, i had to work for it, i didn't intend swapping my motor till about june so started shopping early, but a deal came along so the deed had to be done, ive also got my front and rear flaps -10% off list fitted free, and they are fitting my own supplied side steps for free, and a full tank of fuel + free rubber floor mats He wouldn't give me his shirt off his back

That's exceptional....... especially if it's from a main dealer and there's no story attached.

In Spain, when you already have a car of the same brand,
the official car dealer will offer you directly 9% off listed price.
This is even without you mentioning any form of discount.
Then this is the starting point for your negotiations.

Final discounts of 15% are about average.

Bought last year a new to order Ford Fiesta 1.6cdi (exclusive for the airport runs)
with all the extras with a 20% off the list discount.
