Outlook PST files

I made pst back-ups of my email prior to leaving my last job. Today in my new job I tried to open them and got a message saying I was not authorised to open them.

Is this a result of saving them on a works PC? of something I did when saving them?

I need a lot of the mail as its to do with course work etc.

Any help greatly appreciated. Now - MY11 RRS Autobiography TDV6, Orkney gray, tints, steps, daylight running lamps and allllll the toys!!!

Is the .pst file on removable media (CD or USB Stick)??

The read only attribute might be set, you need to disable this (right click the .pst file) I keep telling myself 'It's a toy'
But I've broken quite a lot of toys in my time.....

It is on a portable USB HDD. The security settings are all greyed out but when I came home the files work correctly on my own laptop.

Could this be a block by my new company's IT police?

Thanks Now - MY11 RRS Autobiography TDV6, Orkney gray, tints, steps, daylight running lamps and allllll the toys!!!

Your new company's IT policy may not like drive being attached. Try Emailing yourself at work and attach the files you need or even just Email it to yourself anyway. If they won't open as an attachment then could be your old firm has put security features on.

At least you have them at home and Emailing them in should work but could be very time consuming if you have a lot but at least they are not lost!

Good luck

Richard

Sounds like your work's IT dept have a lock down on attatchment of external hard drives to client PC's, can you use a usb stick with say word files on your work PC, if so try putting the PST file on a memory stick, it will be seen as a different device by the network and should allow you to open however the next barrier may be the loading of PST files into Outlook if the security restricts importing of PST into Outlook.
