Monaco GP 2012

Have booked up for the Monaco GP for 2012 with Senate Grand Prix. Any tips from seasoned Monaco GP travellers?

Staying at the Metropole in Monaco. Though I would attend a boat party on the Saturday and Amber Lounge on the Sunday. Is Amber Lounge worth the admission price? Would have to book both in advance. Maybe skip the boat party and just wander around Monaco, though I would imagine admission to anywhere would be almost impossible.

Thanks
Tony

A mate at work was there last year and had seating at the swimming pool area of the track, said they were crammed in like sardines for the best part of 3 hours so I would suggest any kind of upgrade for comfort that can be had on the Sunday I would go for. RRS TDV8 (loving it)

I would really love to do Monaco and will one day before I'm too old.
Problem is that for me even though I enjoy watching there is a lull in the middle where you need to get out and have a walk around so would hate to be hemmed in for the whole race .
Perfect location for me would be garden of the Hotel de Paris watching them come up the hill and across the front of the casino! MY2011 HSE Santorini/Ivory/Piano Black/Privacy Glass/TV .Sadly gone.

that is exactly where I will be watching the GP Smile. So that meets the comfort and not crammed in part

just need to ensure the evening entertainment is sorted (and it isnt currently). I did read the stringfellows have their own evening entertainment - not sure the missus would approve though!

Tony, try and get seats opposite the Casino, meaning the Hotel de Paris would be on your right and the Cafe de Paris on your left. Basically you would see the cars coming in and around the Casino and down to the Avenue des Spelugues (Metropole on the left) towards the Fairmont Hotel (used to be the Loews Hotel).

Ive been a couple of times, but usually driven down, and stopped in Menton, or St-Laurent du Var and once when i was touring, There is an excellent train service to Monaco. obviously the best seats are on a yacht or Hotel de Paris, but it is very busy at most locations. You see the most on the qualifyer due to it been alot quieter. If you drive, you can go round the track ofter the Grand prix, an excellent place to visit even if the GP is not on.
Also some good restaurants in the old town, near Alberts house.

Pics not taken from my RRS, they were from my ickle s2000 (great fun around the track)
