Temp gauge not moving up????

My temp gauge is not moving up to optimal driving temperature and the check engine light came on at the same time. Any suggestions before I take it into the dealership? I have an '06 RRS.

Thanks in advance!

Yes, it is now, hahaha. A few days ago when it was somewhat warm out, the gauge went up a little bit but not by much. With this cold temp out today, I am assuming it wouldn't move no matter how long I drive it.

I'm guessing it might be the thermostat?

Don't mess with Check Engine lights, take it to dealer in case its somthing more serious.
