United Kingdom 2007 Range Rover Sport TDV6 HSE Java Black

The very reason I sold mine mine now - this month. The car appreciated £750 in value in February (Glasses Guide). Unheard of. It will drop at least £5k between now and next January when I will get my new one. Hmmm. Can I live without a RRS between now and then and be £5,750 better off? Too right! Wink If you see a bandwagon - it's too late.....

How can you say it will drop £5k?

sound advice from motor trade contacts. Think about it. If an average car drops 50% in 2 years..... If you see a bandwagon - it's too late.....

I disagree, at 3 years it will drop circa 50% but at £30k a £5k drop is a lot in 10 months, even for a V6 Wink

The good thing about forums is its all about opinions. I lost £6k per annum in my 3 and a bit years of RRS ownership. I have no reason (nor does Glass's Guide) to think that this will not continue into year 4 and 5. Higher oil costs (and the knock on affect with diesel price) and the road fund licence cost will compound this as the car get older. This wil drive older car costs down. If I'm wrong I'll eat humble pie. But my experience of buying high value cars (£50k plus over the last 20 years) tells me otherwise. Good luck.

The thing is over the past 3 years we have experienced some of the worst financial times in our history. I had a 911 a couple of years ago and lost £10k in as many months! Thankfully times are a little better now Smile

Don't get me wrong, a new car will still shed 50% of it's value in the first 3 years in this price bracket, but to say that a car which holds is value the best during the winter months and has past that depreciation curve I feel is a very harsh, and I think you are just trying to justify to yourself why you have sold it so soon Wink

i part'ex'd my TDV8 (57) with ca.17k miles to Jaguar for £35k in May 09. I then saw it advertised at LR for £38.5k. It's now up for sale again at £32k in May 11 with 41k miles. The XKR (5Cool i bought at £53k has fallen by ca £20k although I've only added about 4k miles. I wish I'd kept the RRS!

i would say you are owning cars for the wrong reason. They aren't investments. Own them, do money, have fun.
