Front Wiper removal (arm, not the blade)

After 2 years with my 2006 RRS I am still having issues with wipers etc, I've put on every fancy blade the forums mention and still no joy and here is where the problem lies, in a normal wipe, the blade always trails in the direction of the wipe. In my car the blade only trails in one direction, on the return wipe, the pressure is so great from the wiper arm, it pushes the blade (kinda like a snow plough).
This is only true of one wiper arm, the other is perfect. You can feel the pressure of the bad wiper arm is 2x that of the good arm.
So I tried to get the arm off, took off the cap, sprayed some WD40 and nothing, it wouldn't budge, I ended up scratching all of the plastic surround.
So, how do I get the arm off? if I can't do this then when its in for a service in a week I'll ask the stealer to change it out or do some damn thing, changing the blades doesn't work.

err... removal of the nut was implied, sorry. I did remove the nut and the arm should now lift off - right? However whenever i try to leverage it off, the plastic surround beneath the wiper arm gives way before anything else so there is zero leverage

Sorry to hijack the thread a little but when the nut is removed is there a splined bar or hex shaped bar ?

My passenger side wiper is a little high and if its on splines i hope to remove it and turn it a little to drop it lower down the screen.

Back on topic, if pulling the arm is causing possible damage id take it in and get LR to do it, that way any damage is their fault.

On mine it is a tapered shaft - recently went in for service and was 'adjusted' because it was parking off screen - few days later it wouldn't drive (luckily passenger side) - Stratstones advised of issue and sent LRA out to tighten nut and new cap in the post. DIY but at the time not my issue and unknown if a greater problem.

So.... not splines but set and tighten Thumbs Up
